                                                                   "Ooh, La La" Ronnie Lane

Ronald Frederick Lane, the great songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, & bass player, was born to this world in Plaistow, East London, England, on 4/1/46. He joined his first band, 'The Outcasts,' at age 16. It did not take long for the talented musician to make his name in the music world, & become a founding member of 'Small Faces,' where he was soon nicknamed 'Plonk,' & then on to 'Faces,' where he was called 'Three Piece.' Eventually Ronnie formed his own band called 'Slim Chance,' where he continured to show his own unique style by blending his rock background with country and folk music.
Life brought Ronnie a challenge in the late 1970s when he was diagnosed with Multiple Schlerosis, a familiar disease to him, as his mother also suffered from it. As he fought the affliction with help from his friends, he made a decision to move to Houston, Tx in 1984 to try hyperbaraic treatment.  He formed an American version of '
Slim Chance,' and thankfully, was able to give us much more of his talent.
1985 brought a move to an area west of Austin, where he lived until 1993. From March to May of 1987 he worked with 'The Tremors,' a four-piece electric band. After that he fronted a succession of lineups, calling themselves 'Ronnie Lane & Slim Chance.' Another major change happened in 1987 when Ronnie met his soon-to-be third wife, Susan Gallegos. They married in April of 1988 in Austin. In 1990 he toured Japan, where he made his last public appearance. He & Susan moved to Colorado to be with Susan's family. Ronnie died there at age 51, on 6/4/97, of pneumonia as a complication of his disease, after over 20 years of living with it.
A new compilation of his music: "Ronnie Lane Live In Austin," covers music from many groups he played with in that time period, & there is a re-formed 'Slim Chance' cover band to look forward to. "Ooh, La, La" was written ath the heighth of his wealth & fame.

"I wish that I knew what I know now."
